Takapuna Residents Association warmly invites all Milford residents to their fund raising screening of the new New Zealand film, Bellbird at Berkeley Cinema, 6pm Wednesday 20th November.

Bennett’s feature debut takes place in the heart of a small New Zealand town, where a community comes together. The film was in Official Competition, Sydney film Festival 2019 and a nominee for People’s choice Award, Melbourne International film Festival 2019.
Join TRA members in the cinema foyer for drinks, nibbles and a raffle from 6:00 pm prior to the screening at 6:30pm (run time 96 minutes). Bookings are essential through Eventfinda only. Tickets are $25 plus booking fee and can be booked either online or phone 0800 BUY TIX (289 849). Film rating M, Offensive language.
Bellbird stars Marshall Napier as Ross who has farmed the land all his life, just as his father and grandfather did before him. A largely silent man, Ross farms the land alongside his far more exuberant wife Beth (Annie Whittle), who is an eager participant in the local choir and a friend to many. When Beth suddenly dies, Ross is crushed but incapable of displaying his emotions. His son Bruce (Cohen Holloway) moves back in and tries to help, but is not suited to the farming life and also has great difficulties in expressing himself. Around them, their friends realise the difficulties, and pitch in to help.

The fundraising screening proceeds will help support TRA's legal appeal to the High Court seeking a review of the decision of Auckland Council relating to 40 Anzac Street, Takapuna, home of the long-running and popular Sunday market. For more details about the legal and financial appeal, see TRA's Givealittle "Save Our Shore - Taihoa at Takapuna" page here.

We’re having a great response to the appeal and the Society’s membership is growing quickly. Don't miss out on this fundraising social, it'll be a fun and warm-spirited evening. We look forward to seeing you at the Berkeley.
