August/September volunteer opportunities in our reserves and waterways:
Saturday, 3 August 2024, 10am-12 noon, Matariki Planting session at Brian Byrnes Reserve, Milford
Join this community tree-planting event that celebrates the spirit of Matariki, the Maori New Year. This special gathering will feature guest speaker Muriwai Junger, who will share insights into the principles of Maramataka. Please wear closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor work and bring a raincoat. All tools and planting materials provided.
Saturday, 7 September, next Wairau Estuary flood clean up - please put in your calendar. 1pm - 3pm for the tide.
This will be another joint effort by Milford Residents Assn, Pupuke Birdsong Project and Milford Mariners. Volunteers will take debris and load onto the Mariners' small barge. Email: chairs@milford.org.nz if you can spare a couple of hours to improve our environment.
